Damn That Clogged Drain!

Between me and my daughter our hair clogs the bathtub every couple of weeks. If I catch it early I usually can use my plunger to loosen things up and everything is fine, but every couple of months I need to get it unclogged by my buildings handyman who has a snake. Today I decided to see if there was a way I could unclog my tub with items I already have in my apartment. I found out that if I take a cup of salt, a cup of baking soda and  boiling water it not only will unclog my drain but it will also take away any odor it may have. I have salt, I have baking soda, and I have a kettle. I figured what the heck, I’ll try it.  I poured the salt first then the baking soda, and then I started pouring the boiling water, it started working immediately.  I am so excited that I discovered this because that means I will never have a clogged tub again.  I plan to do this at least once a week to keep my drain clear and odor free.

  • 1 cup of salt
  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • boiling water (I used a full kettle)
  • pour salt followed by the baking soda, then pour in the water.

Reusable Cord Clips

I love using reusable hooks, I have them everywhere even my ceiling. I use them to hang picture frames, clocks, charts for my kids, ceiling decorations, and more.   When I found the reusable cable clips I became very excited. At the time I found them I was decorating for my daughters 3rd birthday and I needed a way to hang fake branches from the wall. The cord clips were perfect, not to mention they were great for the cable cord that was coming off my wall.

Once the party was over and I took them down I reused them for more than just cords. I of course used them for what the were intended for, I made a charging station for my kids iPads.  Now my kids iPads are always charged and the cords stay put.  I also placed a cord clip on my computer desk because I hated fishing for my computer cord when I needed to plug it in.

Finally I used the cord clips to hold up the window blinds string, now it is out of reach from my kids. It’s simple, easy and it gives me piece of mind, because I’m one of those mom’s that worries about freak accidents.
